Subscription Box Assembly Tips

You’ve found the perfect niche for your subscription box company and you’ve mastered the art of unboxing. But how do you make sure all your hard work pays off and that your items don’t get damaged during the shipping process? Keep reading for some helpful tips on maximizing your subscription box assembly procedures.

PACKAGING

Keeping your items safe during the shipping process starts with the way you package them. With all the work you put into the marketing and design of your subscription box, it would be a shame for your customers to get the box they waited so anxiously for only to find shattered or damaged products. Consider the following tips when finalizing your packaging process.

  • Box Size – It’s important that the box you choose for shipping is slightly larger than the products you send. This leaves ample room for cushioning the items on all sides in order to provide the best level of protection possible.
  • Tape – The tape you use should be at least two inches wide and should reinforce all seams of the box. For the best results, avoid the following: masking tape, cellophane tape, twine, string, or cord.
  • Packing Material – Bubble wrap, foam, peanuts, and paper are all great options for protecting your items. The more fragile the item, the stronger your packing material should be. Remember to pack the material tightly around your items on all sides so that they can’t move during the trip to their permanent home.

ASSEMBLY LINE

Whether you have just one partner or several people working for you, creating a proper assembly line to put together your subscription boxes is a good idea. To make sure your assembly line works efficiently, there are a few things to remember.

  • Changes in pace can affect the process. When everyone works at a consistent pace, the job gets done more quickly. If you notice things slowing down, watch for changes in pace.
  • Tired employees are less efficient than overworked employees. Make sure workers get breaks when needed and don’t log too many hours.
  • Comfort is crucial to success. Make sure the temperature is not too hot or too cold, reduce the amount of walking back and forth employees must do, and evaluate the overall comfort level of the working space.

OTHER HELPFUL TIPS

With any business, it’s important to effectively utilize your work space. That means organization, organization, organization. To achieve the optimal level of organization, you need storage containers of varying sizes, as well as shelves on which to arrange your supplies. Check out these containers and these shelves to find the perfect products for your business.
